Canada Day weekend Tournament on the Bay of Quinte

The season was off to a great start despite losing a cylinder on opening day during a tournament on Lake Simcoe. In the first week after bass season opened we had 4 tournaments in one week.  At the 4th event, ironically, we put it all together for a 4th place finish with 19lbs of Large Mouth Bass.

At this event our EverStart Jersey's were held up do to a postal strike, but it was a great opportunity to promote the Muscular Dystrophy Walks in Ontario Canada.  Our shirts promoted the walk which was inspired by my brothers courage to embrace his struggles with Muscular Dystrophy.

It was great to take the stage to weigh in and have the lead for awhile in front of all our new friends from EverStart. All that attended this Canada Day weekend event  enjoyed slushes and popcorn provided by EverStart too.
Things Just got tougher...
Tri-Lakes Wild Card
July 16, 17 2011

On this weekend we competed in two events on the Tri-Lakes which included Chemong, Buckhorn and Pigeon Lake.  Our purpose for competing in these events is to collect enough points to qualify for the 2011 Classic.  Which is to be held in Smith Falls on Labor Day weekend.  We were on track to making the classic and even with having a really poor finish we were still sitting in 10th place in the Wild Card division.  Although we knew we needed a strong finish on Rice Lake to stay in the top 18 to make the Classic.

Shortly after the Tri-Lakes event we found out that the lower unit on the engine was damaged and needed to be replaced.  Before our tournament I had hit a rock at the cottage and there was no visible damage until I saw oil leaking when my boat was parked in the driveway.  The word from the mechanics was that we had to buy a new lower unit for $5000 grand.  After a lot of waiting and praying we were able to go through Insurance.  We got the boat back just in time for our last Qualifying event on Rice Lake.

Twice this year we almost missed our events due to mechanical issues. If it wasn't for Brian from Emerald Isle Marine we would have been finished. It was Brians kindness, hard work and  phones calls that made things happen.  The scariest part of having boat issues in the middle of the summer is that they are all backed up and don't have the patience to deal with your problems.  Brian is one in a million he understood our need to be ready for our next tournament and made sure that happened. Thanks so much Brian from Emerald Isle Marine.
